Another week is in the books and the first month seemed to fly by! I am incredibly proud of all the students I was able to assess this week. There are a few areas that we need to continue to review but, for the most part they have all done incredibly well.
This coming week we will be discussing les qualites morales/ personality characteristics for their friends (les amis) and family (la famille). Additionally, we will be starting our Ma Maison de reve/my dream house project after Thanksgiving weekend. I recommend that students begin to collect items for this to bring into school that Tuesday to work on their Maison in class. My suggestion is that they bring in a box and other items to build their dream house like Lego, doll furniture, pictures from magazines etc. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send me an email! I hope everyone has a great weekend! Katelyn Pettigrew

What a great week this has been. The class has been doing fantastic in terms of their learning and retention of the phrases we have covered up until now. This week we did not cover Combien de tantes et oncles as-tu? How many aunts and uncles do you have? as we ran out of time. That will be on the agenda for next week along with Quel sont tes principales qualites morales? What are your main personality traits? and Quel sont les principals qualites morales d'un membre de ta famille? What are the main personality traits of someone from your family?
Next week I will be conducting some Oral language Benchmark testing for all students just so you and your child are aware of how they are doing after the first month of Intensive French. I like to send this home as it can be helpful for students in terms of review and to celebrate their successes. On Thursday Sept 27th we have the Terry Fox walk, you are more than welcome to join us if you are available we will be walking at 12:25pm and we usually do two to three laps around the school zone area. Have a great weekend! Katelyn Pettigrew Welcome to our blog and first class post of the new school year. I am looking forward to creating a website as a great collaborative and informative space for parents and students here. Each week I will post the questions we have focused on and students work samples (without student names being visible). I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this new venture and hope that you find this a great way to connect with your child as they move through Intensive French.
This coming week we will be starting our Ma Famille/my family unit. The questions we will cover this week include: Combien de personne dans ta famille proche? How many people in your immediate family? Combien de cousins et cousines as-tu? How many cousins do you have? Combien de tantes et oncles as-tu? How many aunts and uncles do you have? We will also continue to review past sentences and add further prompts about what are the names of their cousins, aunts and uncles. Have a great weekend! |
