Bonjour!
I know I keep saying this but, wow the time is zooming by! This week our focus will be starting our new unit on Les vetements/clothing. Our main focus questions for this week will include: Qu'est-ce que tu portes aujourd'hui? What are you wearing today?, Qu'est-ce que ton partenaire porte? What is your partner wearing?, and Qu'est-ce que tu portes quand il fait beau? What do you wear when it is nice out?. This unit is always a fun one because students know some of the vocabulary already and because some of the names are the same in English as they are in French! I am very much looking forward to watching them grow and learn with the questions and responses as the days and outfits change. I am also eager for them to continue working on and finish their big collaborative group projects that we started the end of last week. When they are finished I will try and find a time before or after Christmas for them to present to you their parents. As always they will continue to speak, read and write in French these coming weeks as we have a great deal to cover and only 2 months left of the intensive portion before we move to seeing each other for 2.5 hours a week in French ( a huge decrease from all day!). If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me! Have a great weekend and a fantastic week, Katelyn Pettigrew

Good day!
I can't believe that we only have 2 months left before the big switch in February. We have a lot that we need to try and cover (as it becomes more challenging when I don't see them all day). This week we will be finishing up our unit on Les aliments by talking about the preferences of our families (qu'est-ce que tes parents aiment manger et detestent manger?) and examining the Canada's food guide. If you have any grocery flyers you wouldn't mind sending in we could use them this week (thanks in advance!). We will also be working on a collaborative project that students will be responsible for setting up their group norms (proper behaviours when working together in a group) and creating a final product. I am hopeful we can invite parents in to see them when they are finished (Middle of December). I hope everyone has a great weekend and great week. As always if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me at the school. Katelyn Pettigrew This week will have us on our toes as we finish up assessments (reading) and preparing to dive deeper into our new unit "les aliments" We have covered a great deal in the last few weeks but, students are still unsure of the vocabulary associated and therefore I have made some fun activities and games that we will use to help with that this week. I am excited to really dive into the unit. I have included the I can statements for this unit below :)
This week we will continue to review: Qu'est-ce que tu manges souvent? (What do you eat often?), Qu'est-ce que tu manges rarement? (What do you eat rarely?), Qu'est-ce que tu manges jamais/pas? (What do you not eat or never eat?) and Qu'est-ce que tu manges tous jours? (What do you eat every day?) Adding to those questions we will work on Qu'est-ce que tu aimes manger? (What do you like to eat?) Qu'est-ce que tu adores manger? (What do you love to eat?) and possibly Qu'est-ce que tu detestes manger? (What do you hate eating?) I hope everyone has a great long weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks at parent teacher! Katelyn Pettigrew Happy Friday!
This coming week we will be continuing to review the Les aliments/ Food unit we had just begun before Halloween took over the classroom! We will continue to revisit Qu'est-ce que tu manges pour dejeuner (breakfast), diner (lunch) and souper (supper). We may add Est-ce que tu manges souvent des legumes? Do you often eat vegetables? This week and next I will be doing a lot of evaluations including Oral language and reading evaluations. If your child is going to be absent for any reason please let me know as I want to be able to completely assess students before report cards which are not too far away. This week will be a short week with the PD day on Friday but I know we will fit many things into this time period. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me!
